I had high hopes for the possibilities at my last, short lived place of residence, but things didn’t go as well as I had anticipated. I won’t go into any details, as I’m not someone who enjoys dwelling on the past or causing drama, but I learned quite a bit from the situation and it allowed for what is now a much loved current living situation with the girlfriend.

Moving in with the girlfriend is a step I personally was ready for as we’d been in a relationship for almost 1 year and had known each other for over 4 years. I can undoubtedly say I’m very happy. Moving in with someone you love does change the relationship quite a bit and both of us have handled things well. Most of our relationship’s success while living together has to do with the fact that our personalities mesh well and neither of us sweat the small stuff (which is IMO is the major key in any relationship). We both have a ton of our own individual projects and neither of us prevents the other from completing them or getting things done. After all, by completing projects such as school or business and improving one’s self and one’s assets is good for the future of both parties. Our only issue is that we both have a LOT of stuff. As a collector of all things geek, I have a lot of comics, computers, video games, toys, sports cards and other relative material and she has lots of anime and a ton of clothing and Cosplay costumes. The solution would be a bigger place, which is in discussion and probably coming soon enough. Hopefully I won’t be far from Tempe area.

Speaking of Tempe….Wow!

I’ve lived in Phoenix almost my entire life and I proudly tell people I’m a Phoenix Boy, but Tempe is NICE! The youthful atmosphere, clean streets, newer buildings and convenient public transportation to name a few things get an A and gold star on the proverbial city report card. Given, not all of Tempe is nice, but the percentages in comparison to Phoenix is no comparison at all.

The entire weekend was great!

The AnimeFest and Gaming Tournaments had about 200 attendees. There was around 50-60 people in cosplay, 60+ people in gaming tournaments and a lot of others just hanging out and having fun.

On the Anime side:
Cafe Moe had a huge crowd and was highly entertaining, the game shows allowed attendee partcipation and prizes, Iron Cosplay was fun/funny as usual as the theme was Dragonball Z characters and there was a considerably large gathering of Ball Joint Doll people outside enjoying snacks and taking photos.

On the Gaming side:
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was cancelled due to lack of participants (I knew it’s happen that’s why it was scheduled so early)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl was LARGE as usual with a little under 40 partcipants
Street Fighter IV was very competitive with 20 participants many of which were using arcade sticks
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus was small with 4 or 5 participants but they enjoyed themselves (I also knew it wouldn’t be large because it’s a bit too fighting niche)

On the Comic side:
There wasn’t a tremendous amount of people who came with the intention of picking up “Jesus Christ: In the Name of the Gun” and getting it signed. But I have a feeling that between the occasional anime or gaming fan and the comic fans picking up their stacks for the week, they did better then most had expected.

Afterparty:
Was very chill and humorous with about 14-16 people. No video games, movies, anime or computers were running. Just a bunch of people socializing and drinking a nice little Trashcan Punch (fruit punch and Everclear) that got everybody a good buzz.

After a night of editing, I’m finished with episode 4. I’ll be burning copies onto CDs and having some of the AZHP people hand them out to people at the Atomic Comics AnimeFest/VideoGameTourney/ComicSigning on Saturday. Helping provide entertainment and information for the Arizona people  is what I strive to do. Also the experience I’m getting from recording, editing, producing and participating in these podcasts is tremendous.

I walked thru the Atomic Comics Mesa store today with NyuNyu and the store manager Julian and checked out where we’ll be putting the AZHP run gaming tournaments as well as the Anime and Comic events for next weekend. It all seems that it will work just fine and it should be a packed house. Saw Wakkatana shopping a bit while I was there and caught up on things with him since I hadn’t seen him in a while.

Should be a good weekend.
